DETERMINING THE PAPER’S SUITABILITY FOR PUBLICATION IN „PRACE FILOLOGICZNE”

Upon reception of a paper, the Editing Committee conducts a preliminary qualification taking into account the relevance of the article to the topic and profile of the journal. Subsequently, two external reviewers (affiliated neither to the Faculty of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw, nor to the Author/Authors’ home institution) are indicated. Texts which do not follow the guidelines adopted by „Prace Filologiczne” are returned to the Author who is requested to make amendments and corrections.

Two positive reviews are required for the text to be published. In the case when the reviews are contradictory, the Editor may appoint a third reviewer (whose opinion is decisive) or decide whether to publish/reject the text after discussion and voting of the Editing Committee members.

The journal “Prace Filologiczne” adopts a double-blind reviewing procedure. All reviewers who co-operate with the journal are listed on the journal’s website, as well as in the imprint in each of the volumes, according to the recommendations of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The reviews are in a written form. They ought to be descriptive (see REVIEWER'S FORM) and conclusively state whether the text should be published (possibly with amendments that the reviewer deems necessary) or rejected.

The Editing Committee informs the Authors about accepting/rejecting the papers. Reviews are made available to the Authors in order for them to take their position on the reviewers’ comments, and to make the recommended corrections to the papers. Decision on rejecting the paper is final.

Criteria for accepting / rejecting a paper include:

  1. Scientific character of the paper,
  2. Compliance with the journal's scientific profile,
  3. Meeting scientific quality standards (as attested by two independent reviewers),
  4. Papers ought to be cohesive and adopt uniform methodology,
  5. The title should reflect the content of the paper, the key words and the abstract. The paper should be edited and formatted according to the guidelines provided by the Editing Commitee and proofread for grammatical and stylistic correctness.
